2022 In Review

Are blogs really relevant anymore?
We just finished our last wedding of the year and I am catching up on podcasts and business advice and one thing that stuck was “make sure your blog isn’t from 3 years ago”
Ouch!  Guilty as charged.  I HAVE been busy, is that a good excuse?
Thinking of things to write on a blog is hard enough, but then actually writing it?
Wouldn’t you rather see an insta story?

So here is what I want to say on my blog post for this year.
It has been a great (and a little crazy) year.

We loved our clients and their wedding celebrations.

Some of our favorite moments were:

– When the things we thought might not work, but DID!
– When our clients took our advice and the decor was loved by all
– When our bride decided to walk into her ceremony out of the forest and took the guests breath away
– When our grooms brought their dogs to the wedding and they were an amazing part of it and incredibly cute
– When our couple that had postponed three times FINALLY got to have their day
– Parent dances
– Our murder mystery wedding came together and went as planned – the couple were the murders
– When our couple’s neon sign wasn’t working and then we jiggled the wires and it worked again (phew)
– When our couple from Boston was amazed at the venue we picked for them that they didn’t see until their wedding day
– When Cookie’s best friend from high school got married and the lion dancers were so extra and fabulous
– When our couple changed their venue from the zoo to a ballroom at the last minute and we made the decor work in the new space

Finally, five former brides are pregnant and having babies next year – so more joy to be had!

We look forward to 2023, we are updating the website and replacing the blog page with an ideas page, we like that better!

Hoping everyone has a joyful and meaningful holiday season!

Love, Jackie + Cookie

I Have Rebranded to About Joy Events

Hello Lovelies,

I have rebranded from Milk & Honey Special Events to About Joy Events, and I am so incredibly joyful about it.

I want to say a big thank you to my friend, Samantha Spector.  Samantha was the founder of Milk & Honey Special Events and sold me her company over three years ago after she started Saloon Box, a curated cocktail subscription service – it’s amazing!!!  Check it out here.  I wouldn’t be here without her.  Samantha, I will forever be grateful to you and your guidance.

On to About Joy Events, why this name?  Well, it’s simple really, events are celebrations of JOY.  After almost a year of thinking of a rebrand, the new name was inspired by a review left by a former bride, Anna, where she wrote:

Jackie often said that she hoped to “spread joy” through her work: the joyfulness and love that Jackie brought with her transformed the entire planning process

Anna was such a joyful bride and I think of her, Bobby, and Bobby’s mom (who is a character!) often and I always smile.

I am inspired by love and joy and the new name is my complete mission statement for the events that I help plan and create.
